This was a fun, quick, cheap project I did with my s-i-l (thanks, Karen!) We took foam board and cut it to size, then wrapped in ribbon. Then I took my coffee filters (I used about 1/2 a package) and cut off all the middles so they wouldnt be too fluffy. Then using a dowel so I wouldnt burn my fingers, I bunched them up and hot glued them all the way around. Then I scrunched the filters all over to make sure it covered every spot and then separated between my fingers and scrunched some more. I wanted them to look more like flowers instead of the fluff. Then I tied ribbon and hot glued the super cute snowflake to it. We are planning on changing out the ribbon and embellishment for every season, etc.
I'm thinking about trying a brown one, too so check back later!

Fairly Fabulous Frames
This past summer I was a lucky winner of a blog giveaway on mygirlishwhims.blogspot.com. I was $20 towards anything in this cute etsy shop called Fairly Fabulous. After moving, some time, and several emails back and forth, fairly fabulous Megean generously sent me 3 adorable frames from her shop! I requested something pink for the girls room or for a gift, and something with fall colors to help out my decor this season. Here they are - so fun! And I love how the fall one turned out with a new printout I designed.

Pottery Barn Inspired Wood Tealight Candle Holder
This is a really easy project I came up with after lusting after a $70 PB one for a couple years and having some scrap wood I wanted to do something with.
I started with a 15" 4x8 wood beam. It would have been awesome with a longer length also. Sand it well. Mark where you want your candles. Take a 1-1/2 or 2" drill bit and drill how deep to where you want your candles. I used a 2 inch so I could put the candles in glass. I had a dozen Ikea Glimma tealight holders I had previously bought on hand. I wanted the candles above the wood a little, not flush with the wood. Then sand the cutouts. Then stain or paint - I love the look of dark brown "espresso", so I used Ace Walnut Stain with an old rag. Let dry, insert glass, then tealights, light, and enjoy! I threw together a super simple
Autumn tablescape, but it looks good on its own as well! I think in the Spring it would be cute surrounded by moss. I just love my new candleholder and so glad I didnt have to pay $70!

Cute cookies {fall football party}
Last night we went to our friend's house and first ever football party! It was lots of fun for the whole family and there was tons of yummies. I just had to share these adorable cookies my friend made and couldn't believe she went to all that work - a picture had to be taken!!! They tasted as good as they looked, too :) Enjoy!

Boys room before & after: streamlined storage with Ikea expedit bookcase
Last night my husband went to a friend's house to pick up something. And he came home with this! Just minding my business and a $70 Ikea expedit bookcase is dropped in my lap for free and I have to figure out what to do with it? Awesome.
The girls already have one of these for their toys, and we love it. Since the ol' bookcase isn't that sturdy (especially for sturdy lil' boys who like to climb), AND he wont need a changing table forever, AND when the girls grow out of their toy tubs we can just transfer them to this room... it made perfect sense to put it in here. And I love it. The whole room feels so much more streamlined and organized. And there's plenty of room to spare for all his future toys!
A quick presto- chango with a bookcase I love for free- that's Rebecca's Roundup style!!!

Product Review: Wet n' Wild blue nail polish
Did you know that blue nail polish is a major trend for 2011? I am usually a deep purple, red, or pink girl. But when I read about everyone's blue crush this year, I couldn't wait to get my hands on a great turquoise color. I have a lot of turquoise in my wardrobe as well as dark green, orange and brown for fall which are fantastic complimentary colors. So I found a fun little bottle of Wet n' Wild wild shine nail color in Bijou Blue for a buck.
I did have to do at least 3 good coats to get the level of intensity I wanted and next time I might go 4, but being usually bright nail- color shy, I must say I was happy with the results. The best part? It's a fun color that my little girls can wear too :)
Have you found any must- have nail colors for 2011?
