Easy Disney Princess Party

My baby wanted a Princess party this year. It was her first party and she informed me, "I want a cake with Princesses on it. ALL of them." haha! I just made a simple sheet cake and set little princess figurines on top. Done! We borrowed the decorations and I had all the girls dress up. As the guests arrived, I had them color a crown to wear and we had Princess movie clips from Youtube playing in the background.

We made a "Pin the tiara on the Princess game"

I found a Disney Princess memory game for cheap and it was one of the games for prizes we played.

I put together goody bags with whatever I could find around town - princess tattoos, pencils, Lipsmackers, suckers and graham snacks - all princess!

We played with balloons and bubbles and then opened presents and had cake and ice cream.
The Princess enjoyed her party and it was a success!!!

Purple Parisian Birthday Party Part 2/2: Party Games

Welcome party guests! Bonjour!

As guests arrived, they each got a Paris picture to color. The birthday girl had to stay out of the room while they colored, then we displayed their art in our "Louvre Museum," and the birthday girl picked her favorite and the winner got a prize.

Here are the party favors - homemade macarons.

For this party game, the girls were divided into pairs and given random supplies that I had- plastic table covers, crepe paper, balloons, tape and scissors. They had to create ensembles for "Paris Fashion Week." Then they modeled them on the "runway" and everyone voted for the winners, who won a prize.

Another game was constructing Eiffel Towers out of sugar wafers and frosting. It was more difficult than I was anticipating. A few girls made Arch de Triomphes instead.

Other games we did that I didn't get pictures of were a sheet of matching the French party words to their meanings (from the Fanvy Nancy website), and cup stacking challenges building the Eiffel Tower.
Overall, it was a successful party and everyone had a great time!
The party was Tre's Magnifique!!! Aurevoir!

A Simple Boys Room Reveal {Gray & Navy Blue}

It was time for The Boy to have his own room. Everything we used were things we already had, except I had to buy light blocking curtains since this room didn't have any. You might recognize this room as the previous Guest Room. We no longer needed the guest bed and decided this was a better use of space. The Boy thought this was a great idea too :)

Handmade Wood Peg Dolls: A Cute 3 Year Old Girl Gift

Did you know I have a love for peg dolls? I don't know why, but when they are done well I think they are so adorable. A couple years ago I made a few superhero peg doll sets for my son and nephews and now that my baby is turning three soon, I've been dying to make her a little set. I decided to make her a set of three, and they are going to be the cake toppers on her birthday cake, each holding a candle.

They started from this unfinished wood:

Fabric Pumpkins {DIY Easy No Cost Project}

This project has been on my pinterest to-do list since last Autumn. Since we had the day off and needed something to do, I decided the kids could help me do it. They each made 4 pumpkins mostly all by themselves with a little help from me. The pumpkins turned out so cute and it's super fun when you can make something entirely with stuff you already have and don't spend any money.

I followed the tutorials from here and here.

 I just grabbed fabric scraps from my stash in Autumn-ish colors in oranges, blacks and browns and let the kids pick which ones they wanted to use. Each one is different and I love that we made these together and they can play with them and they do double duty as decorations too. I love having meaningful "decor" rather than just junk you buy to fill up space.

I hope you are enjoying your Labor day holiday. Are you doing anything to get ready for the changing season?

"Children at Play" Boy and Girl Shared Bedroom

Time for baby girl to share a room with big brother! I gave the walls a fresh coat of paint, repurposed the curtains, sewed a pillow and got a few new pieces of art/decor for the walls and the rest we already had. It turned out so great and the room feels bigger and cleaner. I am happy to report everyone is sleeping through the night now :) Sources at bottom of post.
