Guest Room Reveal

It was my goal to get this "project" done this week, and after starting on it at the beginning of June, it's finally done! This was the girls room (which you can see the "Before" photos of this room HERE), but we decided to move them upstairs this Summer and turn this into the guest room. I'm happy to report that the switch is working out beautifully. As soon as they were "moved out," my husband gave the walls a fresh coat or two of white paint. We moved all the furniture in and I have been working on getting it right. Here is the room now:

The only thing I bought for this room was some new sheets and the curtains that I scored last weekend from the thrift store for $3.75 for both!!! We love how it turned out, and since the other half of the room and closet (not pictured) is now our desk/office/craft area, it is so much more functional.

Harvest Blessings Pillow {DIY No Cost Project}

Here is another project from my "Pinterest To-Do List" of Autumn pins. (To see my last one go HERE). First I started with some neutral off-white cotton fabric from my fabric stash, a pillow form I already had, a fabric sharpie - although a regular sharpie would work just fine also, fabric cutters/ruler/mat, and the "harvest" word template I found HERE, which actually are really cute printables you could frame on their own.

While looking at the template, I free-handed the word with a pencil then mimicked the calligraphy style to write "blessings".  I then went over it with the sharpie, then sewed up my pillow cover into an envelope style cover so I can easily take it off and store it every year with the fall decor.

It's cooling down a little and starting to feel like fall. Have a great week! ~ Rebecca

Fabric Pumpkins {DIY Easy No Cost Project}

This project has been on my pinterest to-do list since last Autumn. Since we had the day off and needed something to do, I decided the kids could help me do it. They each made 4 pumpkins mostly all by themselves with a little help from me. The pumpkins turned out so cute and it's super fun when you can make something entirely with stuff you already have and don't spend any money.

I followed the tutorials from here and here.

 I just grabbed fabric scraps from my stash in Autumn-ish colors in oranges, blacks and browns and let the kids pick which ones they wanted to use. Each one is different and I love that we made these together and they can play with them and they do double duty as decorations too. I love having meaningful "decor" rather than just junk you buy to fill up space.

I hope you are enjoying your Labor day holiday. Are you doing anything to get ready for the changing season?

Late Summer / Early Fall

Our house smells amazing right now. We just pulled out our first baked pumpkin goodies from the oven. Even though the calendar says it's still summer, there is definitely a crispness in the breeze that wasn't there last week. Fall is in the air! My huckleberry patch might have frozen last night. I've started to pull out a few fallish decorations, but I'll wait until Labor Day is over to put the wreath on the front door :)
